Garm Bel Iblis was once a powerful senator in the Old Republic. After the Alliance was formed, he broke away and started his own private war against the Empire. When he meets up almost accidentally with Han Solo, he is pulled into the New Republic effort. Bel Iblis is credited with helping the Alliance gain control of some of the remaining Katana fleet as well as his strategy for destroying the cloaked asteroids above Coruscant in The Last Command.
